Grab this set while you can. Hard to find!

These Winnie-The-Pooh CD are wonderful stories for your children and for the parents to enjoy as well. AA Milne had an amazing ability to capture characters. The Disney cartoons from yore were great, but the original text of Milne is even better. Humorous and clean and adventurous for small children, but also enough tongue-in-cheek character development to entertain the parents as well. There are probably many different recordings of this classic set, but I specifically recommend this recording, narrated by Alan Bennett.

Best Narration for the Beloved Bear

We had these books on tape several years ago for our older kids, so when we added a baby this year we knew that the cd's had to be found for him. We looked all over for them, and were so happy to finally find them on Amazon! Peter Dennis is the perfect narrator for the Pooh stories (the real Christopher Robin certainly agreed!), so even though we found the books on cd by other narrators before finding these, we chose to wait until the Peter Dennis set could be found. He does such a wonderful job on the voices of the characters, and he switches back and forth so naturally and smoothly that he makes listening to the books a true pleasure. Not only are the cds soothing and fun to listen to for the baby and for the kids, but they're also fun and nostalgic to listen to for the parents. They aren't annoying to listen to like a lot of other kid-oriented cds can be.

If you're looking to give your child some listening enjoyment that won't hype him or her up with too much craziness, and you love the classic beloved Pooh Bear, then these are for you!

Quite impossible to say a bad word about this delightful edition of the A A Milne classic The illustrations are almost as famous as the words which although written for your children have many messages for adults Winnie and all his friends ave their own distinct personalities and these are developed in this book and the following books .

About the Author
Bulent Atalay is a scientist and artist with roots in Turkey, England, and the United States. He is a professor of physics at the University of Mary Washington, an adjunct professor at the University of Virginia, and a member of the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton. He is the author of Math and the Mona Lisa (Smithsonian Books, 2004), and a frequent lecturer on the genius of Leonardo.

Keith Wamsley, is trained in classics and literature. He teaches secondary school in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and was a contributing editor on Math and the Mona Lisa (Smithsonian Books, 2004).

Leonardo's Universe

There are many reasons to read this wonderful book. It has the gorgeous graphics of an elegant coffee table book but is also a lively, rigorous and informative narrative one wants to read in the comfort of his or her den. The authors are Renaissance men themselves and these qualities are reflected in the book. This account of Leonardo's life and the world in which he lived is clearly written and will appeal to the layman as well as to scholars. The illustrations and photographs are exceptionally well chosen. The narrative is enhanced by scores of supplementary vignettes such as, "Ideal Proportions", "Leonardo's Mirror Text", "Pyramidal Composition", "Mathematical Underpinnings",and "Leonardo as an Urban Planner". This is the special sort of book that never loses its freshness.

Stunningly beautiful overview of da Vinci's creativity

I am just beginning to inhale this huge volume of Leonardo's history, insights, art and science. It's truly fascinating reading with stunningly beautiful drawings, paintings and photographs. Each page is a visual delight!! It is a treasured addition to my collection of art and science books and an inspiration to my photographic visions. However, "Leonardo's Universe", is more than the usual historical review of da Vinci's genius. It is an inspiration to all artists and scientists who endeavor to transcend current perceptions of art and scientific knowledge and leap beyond incremental approaches.

The creative connection between art and science was one of the themes that was exploited by the acclaimed NASA Institute for Advanced Concepts (NIAC). The NIAC was funded by NASA from 1998 through August 2007 to inspire, select and fund revolutionary advance concepts for future aerospace endeavors. The NIAC expanded on the creative genius of numerous scientists and artists from da Vinci to modern day Einstein and Picasso, and others, to inspire thinking and concepts that could have significant impact on future aerospace missions. Bulent Atalay's book "Math and the Mona Lisa" was one of the primary references used by NIAC as an example of the connection between art, math and science. His latest book, co-authored with Keith Wamsley, will also be an essential reference and inspiration for creative scientists and "techno" artists and a treasured addition to any library focused on art and science.

An absolutely superb book--very highly recommended!

I picked up this book because of it's alluring cover, and wasn't expecting what was inside. I have always been fascinated by history so I expected that a book on Leonardo would be interesting and worth my time. I wasn't prepared for the stunning pictures of the art and architecture of the Leonardo's universe, and the very cogent explanation the author makes for the centrality of the Renaissance and Leonardo in particular in the western tradition.
I can not recommend this book strongly enough. It's is beautifully written and beautifully illustrated. Absorbing it provides the reader with an intensely educational experience, and the education you get from it is important. Knowing about the Renaissance and Leonardo's critical role in it is very important for people who want a liberal arts education. This book makes the significance of this period and the giants who inhabited it accessible and meaningful. Get it.

For students needing to brush up on small animal medicine and the POMR/SOAP format, Dr Maddison provides a concise review of the common clinical signs encountered in small animal medicine. This is an excellent companion to the Small Animal Internal Medicine and Blackwell 5-minute consults.

I am a new graduate and this book was really helpful in summarizing some of the most common presenting complaints in small animals and how to approach them diagnostically. The first few chapters were the best for me in terms of explaining the reasoning behind history taking, physical exams and diagnostics. Some of the later chapters seemed less easy to follow, like the basic steps (define the problem, define system/location, define the lesion) were not as well organised such that things that I felt were more like defining the problem itself were under the define the lesion section, if that makes any sense. Overall it was absolutely worth the money! The digital edition seems to be well layed out with most of the tables and graphs displaying very well.

About the Author

Guido Giglioni is the Cassamarca Lecturer in Neo-Latin Cultural and Intellectual History at the Warburg Institute, School of Advanced Study, University of London. He has published on Jan Baptiste van Helmont (Immaginazione e malattia, Milan 2000) and Francis Bacon (Francesco Bacone, Rome 2011), and edited a volume on Francis Glisson’s manuscript papers (Cambridge 1996). He has written a number of articles on Renaissance philosophy and medicine, on such authors as Marsilio Ficino, Girolamo Cardano and Tommaso Campanella. He is currently working on Francis Bacon’s philosophy (ERC Starting Grant ‘Francis Bacon and the Medicine of the Mind’).

James A.T. Lancaster is an intellectual historian, who received his PhD from the Warburg Institute in London. He is currently a Teaching Fellow in the Department of History at Royal Holloway, where he is in the process of writing a book on the interrelation of religion and the natural world in the thought of Francis Bacon. In addition, as a board member of the Oxford Francis Bacon (OFB), James has been responsible for compiling the most comprehensive bibliography to date of both editions of the works of, and secondary sources on, Francis Bacon. His publications include: ‘The Semantic Structure of Evolutionary Biology as an Argument Against Intelligent Design’ in�Zygon: The Journal of Religion and Science; ‘Natural Knowledge as a Propaedeutic to Self-Betterment: Francis Bacon and the Transformation of Natural History’ in�Early Science and Medicine; and ‘Natural Histories of Religion: A (Baconian) “Science”?’ in�Perspectives on Science.

Sorana Corneanu�is Associate Professor of English (English Department) and researcher in early modern studies (Foundations of Modern Thought Research Centre) at the University of Bucharest. She is the book review editor of the Journal of Early Modern Studies (Zeta Books). In addition to articles on early modern philosophy, literature and intellectual history, she is author of Regimens of the Mind: Boyle, Locke, and the Early Modern Cultura Animi Tradition (University of Chicago Press, 2011) and co-editor, with Guido Giglioni and Dana Jalobeanu, of Francis Bacon and the Medicine of the Mind: Late Renaissance Contexts, special issue of Perspectives on Science 20 (MIT Press, 2012), and Francis Bacon and the Reconfiguration of Early Modern Natural History, special issue of Early Science and Medicine 17 (Brill, 2012).

Dana Jalobeanu is lecturer in Philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Bucharest, member of the research centre for Logic and Philosophy of Science CELFIS, and of the research centre Foundations of Early Modern Thought (FEM), University of Bucharest. She is co-editor of the Journal of Early Modern Studies and executive editor of Society and Politics. She has published papers on early modern natural history, laws of nature, the emergence of experimental science, experiments, mathematics and natural philosophy in the works of Francis Bacon and Isaac Newton. Very interesting

This book is so interesting as it shows how D�rer was constructing the human figure. He used geometry and many different proportional systems. There is even one heroic man of ten headlengths.
Needless to say his artistic ideals were very different from those today.

I would highly recommend this book to all interested in figure drawing as well as the history of art. You will come closer to actually understanding such a wonderful artist as D�rer. You will also get to see how hard he was working so that he could truly understand and master the human figure.
His work in this book is very impressive.

Great review for NCLEX.

Loved this book! It was actually fun to read and not boring. It helped prepare me for the nclex tremendously. Passed my first time with 75 questions! It has a great review chapter and always has tips on how to answer questions. It comes with a ton of questions in the back of the book and also a CD. I would definitely recommend it.
