A great book for fans of The Woodwright Shop

This is a great book with many project ideas. It is not a book of measured drawings. If you've viewed "The Woodwright's Shop," you wouldn't expect to see them anyway. Each project highlights different techniques with hand tools. I've personally recreated the bellows from this book with much success (If I do say so myself!)
I still re-read the section on hand-cutting dovetails each time I attempt them.
All-in-all, it's a great book that demonstrates woodworking techniques while forcing you to improvise your projects around the basic themes presented in its pages.

Projects to Learn On

When you read Underhill you begin to understand the tradition of woodworking--the heritage of anyone whose ancestors had to hew out a shelter and live off the land (in other words, every one of us). The former master housewright for Colonial Williamsburg includes projects with instructions specific enough to get you started but vague enough to challenge you to inject individuality into your work. As a still-green intermediate woodworker and a history student, I loved it.

This is my favorite of the series in overall content. There are no trips to the forest or barn raisings here, just projects that can be built in any workshop. Unlike the others, this is not really a sit down and read through it book. Instead it's a true how-to book.

It's a fact of life that we get older. When we stop getting older, we'redead. Maybe instead of fighting the aging process, we could enjoy it a lot moreby embracing aging and using some simple but powerful techniques. Perhaps achange in thinking as well as in how we behave would be helpful.

It's really encouraging that early in the book, we're given the names offolks who have accomplished a lot in what others would call their golden years:at 91 Henry Kissinger added another book to his dozen plus ones; Phyllis Suescelebrated her 92nd birthday in 2015 by dancing the Tango; she took up theTango and the trapeze at the age of 80; Dick Van Dyke starred in a music videoin 2015 at the age of 89; many other examples are given.

What do these folks have in common? According to the author, they are"happy, grateful, optimistic, and appreciative." She then goes on to give ussome great ideas about how to accomplish this by choices we make in our dailylives. Many of the concepts are found in other programs not specifically aimedat the concept of aging, but I like that she focused them specifically forolder adults.

No matter your age, this book is filled with ideas that can help you live along, fruitful, and happy life. The title, by the way, is taken from one ofAbraham's workshops where he stated this is the way to live: happy, healthy...dead!--New Spirit Journal

I could not recommend this more highly

This was a delightful read. The extensive examples were right on the nose. I kept finding myself in so many of the vignettes. Of course, this made it even more enjoyable to read. I could not recommend this more highly. I loved the title...as a friend of mine used to say: nobody gets out alive! ;-)

I know some of this info, but i hadn't considered it in terms of aging! Wow. She was right, much of what I thought about aging was incorrect. Great book, fun read. Love dr. Nelson's sense of humor.

This is an outstanding series for working with young Autistic children

Book A (over 300 pages) is packed with great ABA/VBA exercises. My wife loves this book and uses it as part of our home ABA program with my 5 year old. It is very easy to use. This book (1999 series) is almost exactly the same as the 2008 series - which is very expensive (>$280 for Book A and >$750 for the complete series). Highly recommended.

Extremely helpful in understanding the main idea

I used this textbook as a supplement study tool for my high school biology class. This is one of the most comprehensive texts that I've come across. The content is easy to understand and the diagrams are coherent. If you are looking for a book that translates biological jargon, this is the definitely the one. This book has helped me get throught the SAT II's and other standardized tests. I also recommend buying the test data bank, which also runs by the same author and publisher. The depth of the topics covered, do not reach beyond a high school level general biology class. For AP Biology or general biology in college, I suggest you to purchase "Life on Earth" by Gerald and Teresa Audesirk or "Biology" by Neil A. Campbell and Jane B. Reece.

The Adobe Illustrator WOW Book

I'm not an experienced Illustrator user. I was looking for a friendly reference book that I could search quickly. For me it is a luxury to see a procedure on paper. For example: I wanted to create a vector file from a raster image that would then be used by a machine to cut out a shape. Details and pitfalls are so easy to miss in a video. I like watching a video and having Ms Steuer's book open. There I can see the steps logically and graphically organized. I don't have to watch the video multiple times to find a option or keystroke I missed. Her book is a thoughtfully researched wealth of information all easy to find locate and follow.

This book just keeps getting better with each edition! Besides being beautiful and providing a wealth of useful information (step-by-step techniques and tips), the book has such a nice, calm, well-organized feel. The purple CC markers are a wonderful idea for alerting the reader to new, Creative Cloud content. And the author promises to post info about Creative Cloud updates through wowartist.com - a wonderful way for readers to keep up with the latest changes.
