This is an awesome book. It's like having an attorney by your side to walk you through Due Process. There are Draft forms in this book are great. If you are considering filing Due Process against your school district, read this book first!

Extremely helpful

Extremely helpful. Well organized. Buy it more affordably as an instant download ebook on the author's website (just google her).

Also, if you are going to due process pro se, another helpful guide may be found at the Pennsylvania Office for Dispute Resolution website (just google it). The Philpot guide is more concise but if you are really going to due process you may feel better if you take a look at the PA guide as well. Note, the PA guide is very specific to PA and is less concise than Philpot.

In short, I would always recommend starting with the Philpot guide.

P. S. Philpot helps you prepare in a lot of practical ways. One thing I particularly appreciated was, she warns you what sorts of new tricks your district might pull in the last couple of weeks before the hearing, and she gives you the gumption to stop playing nice.

Fascinating look at the actors, the plans and the gaffes that led to Brexit. Shipman interviewed extensively and provides an almost day-by-day in progress review of the run-up to Brexit. The players on display are shown at their brilliant best and their lewd, bumbling worst. A must-read for political junkies, those trying to make sense of internationalism in retreat, and those curious about the parallels between Brexit and Trumpism.

One of the best books I've ever read

One of the best books I've ever read, and, as a political work, in the league with Cramer's masterpiece "What it Takes" (the greatest book ever written on politics) and Caro's Lyndon Johnson series.

I've been following British politics since the 1990's and intensely since the 2000's. But I wondered whether 688 pages on the Brexit referendum was more than I needed. On the contrary, Shipman provides all the necessary context of Britain's long and tumultuous relationship with the European Union without lingering or engaging in tedium.

What follows is a gifted storyteller mining an epic drama for all of its narrative worth. Imagine a national referendum over the future of the country with fissures running through party lines and pitting leaders of the two major parties against one another.

Underlying this national battle is the psychodrama among a group of friends who attended Oxford in the 80's: Boris Johnson, who watched as his younger classmate David Cameron ascended to the leadership of the Conservative Party and the premiership ahead of him, who emerges as the front man of the Leave campaign, putting him on the path to being prime minister; Michael Gove, whose modest background affected the dynamic with his classmates Cameron and Johnson, found himself marginalized in the latter's government. Gove, who supplied much of the intellectual heft of the new Conservatives, would do the same for the Leave campaign. The interpersonal politics and personal history was just as interesting as the campaign itself, which cannot be understood without it.

Shakespeare wouldn't have dared to invent this story. Cameron, the young prince, never a Europhile, promises a referendum in order to win a General Election in 2015. The referendum fails, and his political career with it. In the retrospect of his amazing career, Europe was always there, waiting, to give him his greatest victory but also his final and fatal defeat.

How Leave wins, and the head Brexiteers lose the peace, is a story that deserved a book of this magnitude. I enthusiastically recommend it.

Have gone through every book on the 300s - this is the best!

I want to be able to use all of the best features of the Nikon D300s and have read every book on the camera. This one is the best because: 1. The author not only goes through how every feature and menu operates, but more importantly, he give you his suggestions and reasons on why you'd want to use each feature (and more importantly, how the various menu options work in conjunction with each other to achieve very specific situations). 2. The illustrations are all large and in color - while this may seem a minor thing, the author goes the extra step in color coding various areas of the screens so you can identify the information easily. 3. Not a re-write of the Nikon manual - this is my major complaint about most of the other books on the market - this one goes "deep" into the workings of the camera. 4. The author identifies various features which he feels are not in your best interest to use - and gives his reasons why he feels that way. 5. Best of all the author has a very detailed section on his best suggestions on setting up parameters in the menus to use for very specific shooting situations.

I have several Post-it notes on various sections of this book - this is a manual that you should keep in your camera bag!

A must read !

This book was so much more than I expected. As an amateur photographer I must say that this book points you to the right direction. Everything is clearly explained. I also appreciate that the author included suggested settings and advise on lenses etc... All the information you need to make the most of your Nikon D300S is in here :) It's also a pleasure to look at. I have bought many instructional books in the past and although they had great reviews the quality of paper they were printed on and the basic drawings did not help. Everything was very technical and difficult for an amateur like me to understand; however in this book nothing has been taken for granted. All the little details are explained and many colored photographs are included. I am very happy with this purchase and I highly recommend David Busch's Guide.

Great but has its problems

This is definitely one of the best (if not the best) camera specific books out there. It does go beyond the manual that comes with the camera - which is large itself!

However, I'm always leery when any book starts off in detail on things like how to install the battery or put a lens on. You would assume the book is intended for the beginner but it never works out that way. The advanced items are usually skimmed over. And, unfortunately, that is true with this book. I'm still confused on several items.

One problem is he goes through every menu and button with minimal detail always stating it will be explained further in chapter such and such. There are two problems with that. Since I have no use of the item at the time I can't really try it out expecting to wait until chapter... But then I forget what menu it was and have to go back and find it. And in most cases the extra detailed explanations are very brief or just a repeat. For instance, interval timing on page 311 provides no additional (useful) information. In fact, there is an entire paragraph on an "affordable add-on" but he doesn't explain what it is exactly. There is information left out or too difficult to find. For instance, I couldn't access the interval menu item. Turns out I had the release mode dial in a setting that turns it off but I couldn't find that in the book.

The book is over 500 pages including the index. It could have been cut down significantly without the repeat of why his books are better and the references to different cameras - I guess he is trying to appeal to previous Nikon owners but that limits his audience. Another example, he spends a great deal of space explaining why he thinks the built-in level is a toy because his tripod has a level and it doesn't do fore/back leveling. But not all of us have a level and how often is one concerned about leveling fore/back? As has been said, just stick to the facts please.

He has done a terrific job with providing a wealth of information and has provided lots of pictures to show which item he is referring to. I think along with cutting it down a bit, the format would be better off including the detail along with each menu/button setting and provide suggested settings instead of referring to later chapters. Then put how to get different shots in additional chapters using the various settings together.

I like the book it just takes a bit of effort finding what I need.

About the Author
James P. Pfiffner is a University Professor in the School of Public Policy at George Mason University. He has written or edited ten books on the presidency, including THE STRATEGIC PRESIDENCY: HITTING THE GROUND RUNNING, 2nd Edition ( 1996) and THE CHARACTER FACTOR: HOW WE JUDGE AMERICA'S PRESIDENTS (2004). He has also published more than 80 articles and book chapters on the presidency, American government, and public management. As an elected member of the National Academy of Public Administration, he has been a panel member or on project staffs of the National Commission on the Public Service (the Volcker Commission), the Center for Strategic and International Studies, the National Academy of Sciences, and the Center for the Study of the Presidency.

About the Author
Henry David Thoreau was born in Concord, Massachusetts in 1817. He graduated from Harvard in 1837, the same year he began his lifelong Journal. Inspired by Ralph Waldo Emerson, Thoreau became a key member of the Transcendentalist movement that included Margaret Fuller and Bronson Alcott. The Transcendentalists' faith in nature was tested by Thoreau between 1845 and 1847 when he lived for twenty-six months in a homemade hut at Walden Pond. While living at Walden, Thoreau worked on the two books published during his lifetime: Walden (1854) and A Week on the Concord and Merrimack Rivers (1849). Several of his other works, including The Maine Woods, Cape Cod, and Excursions, were published posthumously. Thoreau died in Concord, at the age of forty-four, in 1862.

The Perfect Introduction to Thoreau's Journals

Many readers exposure to Thoreau's published self-contained books like _Walden_ and _The Maine Woods_ are intrigued enough to look deeper. Inevitably, you end up with the Journals.
The journals are so long and copious, that it can be hard to decide where to start. I don't know off-hand how many pages or words there are, but there are enough of Thoreau's Journals out there to last you 3 to 5 years of reading.
So! You should buy this starter book to introduce you to the flavor of the Journals. If you also read some of the Biographies out there, you learn that Thoreau's life went through some distinct periods, which will be reflected in the different Journals. Many folks think 1851 was a magic and expanding year for him, and that's why this book follows this year alone.
My only complaint about the book using this time frame is that it sort of Pornographically selects from all the years of the Journals--and pornographically selects from 1851. As if all T's days were charmed, all rich with experience.
But the Journal selections excerpted here and this book as a whole have many good qualities that outway my only complaint. They are:
1.--This book follows a year, and T was very much influenced by the seasons. Coming full circle in a year with T is good reading.
2.--The book doesn't try to do too much. If an Introduction book does its job, it should leave you wanting more deep info on the subject. This book did that for me.
3.--There are a couple-few cool replications of drawings T did in his journal. Bonus points for these.
Overall, the subject material here is awesome. If you only know Thoreau through his published "books" and if you like them (especially the naturalist part of them), the Journals will change your world. This book does a solid good job of introducing you to the Journals.

Best way to experience his journals

Henry David Thoreau's journal is his masterpiece, and somewhat different to his more polished works.

This is by far the best way to experience his journal, too. Short excerpted collections are problematic because you cannot get used to the flow of his writing, and the changing nature of it over the lifespan of the journal. This book, which is the full year of 1851, may contain less-than-stellar entries, but it also contains some rippers, and is definitely the best way to experience it. It was about this time in his life that Thoreau decided to stop using his journal just as a source for his other books, and rather to create it for its own sake. And it shows - this is not writing to be chopped up and excerpted, but to be enjoyed in its entirety.

The best possible introduction to the masterpiece of his life - 5 stars.

Day by day, one world at a time

As previous reviewers have noted, this is an ideal introduction to Thoreau's immense Journal, which can be overwhelming if taken all at once -- especially by someone unfamiliar with Thoreau the writer & thinker. By wisely choosing one crucial year, we follow Thoreau day by day as he describes the world around him, both natural & human; at the same time, we're privy to his philosophical musings & digressions, which demonstrate the shaping & progression of his thought. This edition even includes his simple but clear drawings of leaves, clouds, etc., interspersed in the text.

It's fascinating to see how Thoreau went from being considered a failure in his own time to one of the most prescient & relevant American writers of our time. The materialism, the conspicuous consumption, the degradation of both the natural world & human relationships -- he saw it all coming, and did his best to offer an alternative worldview, one based on the development & growth of a genuinely authentic life. Given the superficiality & essential emptiness of current society, that alternative worldview is desperately needed now.

And simply as literature, this is beautiful reading, with a deceptively simple prose that's been carved & polished with incredible precision. Yet it seems to emerge on each page as something spontaneous & natural, like the unfolding & flowering of a green branch in Spring. At the same time, Thoreau can be humorous, particularly in a satiric vein; and he can also be quite pungent, as well.

This isn't for everyone, if course -- although many who'll undoubtedly shun or ignore it would probably benefit from it. But for anyone who hungers for something deeper than the illusion of a worthwhile life -- the one that's offered by contemporary culture in all media -- this is rich & fertile ground. Most highly & urgently recommended!

Neither a hands-on investment manual nor a basic introduction to investing, Kansas's book straddles the divide between those two extremes, but has trouble finding a comfortable spot. Kansas tries too hard to reach casual readers, as when he compares the New York Stock Exchange to a lemonade stand or a trading specialist to a traffic cop, two simple analogies that give way to a stream of jargon and technical details that may overwhelm readers unfamiliar with big finance. Luckily, Kansas never strays far from the wry humor he uses to enliven the finer points. For example, in a discussion of the high risks of venture capital, Kansas writes, "Venture capital is a lot as its name applies, though one is tempted to place 'ad' before 'venture.'" The book isn't afraid to wade into controversies such as Henry Blodgett's questionable stock recommendations, and at its best it feels as though an experienced financial journalist is gossiping with the reader over drinks. As its title suggests, this book is a primer, providing backgrounds on every major type of investment or financial activity, with a pleasing economy of style that incorporates sidebars for people seeking more in-depth information on how to read stock listings or the history of the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The ideal reader of this book isn't a total financial novice, but readers with an at least cursory understanding of trading, investments and economics will find Kansas' book a rewarding read.

Complete? Guidebook? Not so much.

The "Getting Going" series in the Wall Street Journal is a good one, well worth reading, and has helped the WSJ become more relevant to those of us who have less than a billion dollars net worth. (In my case, $999,999,999 less.) That's why I had high hopes for this book. While it does its job admirably, the question is: What is it's job? The title suggests it is "Complete" and a "Guidebook." In reality, its job is to be "A brief, concise introduction at a high level to financial and economic terms."

THAT job, it does admirably. You'll get a overview of all the terms you're likely to run into: stocks, bonds, options, futures, etc. But a brief overview is about all it does. There are some pearls, a few insightful comments, and (the best part) a nice selection of web sites for future reference.

If you're looking for a quick read, and a concise overview of finances and American economics, this book is very good. But if you think it will actually help you do something practical with your own finances, you may be disappointed by its superficial treatment.

Scoring note: The book would have been a 4 if the title had been "A Brief Overview of American Economics and Investing."

Highly Recommend This Timely Book

As buyers and businesses become increasingly sophisticated both on- and offline, a new sales model is sorely needed for salespeople and small business owners in the digital age. Such a model is provided by Tim Hughes in this must read book. He explains why social selling is essential for anyone who wants to increase sales by using the interconnected world of social media. Many tools and strategies are laid out for targeting potential customers, forming relationships with them, and closing deals. This is a far more successful approach than going in "cold" as many traditional salespeople and companies do.

Tim Hughes also discusses the vital importance of C-level executives making the change from analogue to digital sales. Unless there is a top-down approach to this change, it can only have limited success. It also suggests that the hiring process itself has to change, as salespeople with integrity and a genuine passion for social selling will be far more successful being "social" in a digital world than salespeople who are faking it.

All in all, this is a common sense, groundbreaking book that should be read by anyone in sales who wants to take full advantage of our digital age.

Not Just Another Book on Social Selling

Why one more book on social selling? Well, this is not one more book on social selling. Tim Hughes plots our path and busts many myths. I especially learned from the segment on Influence and Social Graphs. I've already gone back and re-read several chapters, and I have "stickies" all throughout the book. Salespeople who forget that the word "social" is part of social selling, will take many lessons from this book. Sales leaders--you will finally have a social selling plan and steps to implement. All in 187 pages.

This is one of those books which you finish and realize that the insight gained has saved several thousand dollars in consultancy fees... plus of course the saving of time, energy and effort of learning (unnecessarily) from ones mistakes.

If you are like me and don't like spending unnecessary time, money, effort or energy on unnecessary tasks, I suggest you just do what I did... make the purchase, read the book and begin benefiting (whilst enjoying the read) immediately.

This recipe book rocks! Don't waste time and money spent on valuable DiY materials trying to re-invent the wheel. This book has plenty of excellent recipes to keep you busy and vaping happily for a long time to come.

Stolen content, gag-worthy & incomplete recipes.

Every single recipe contained within this book has been stolen from popular forums. You did not have rights to resell them. You still do not have licenses to resell or redistribute them. Do not buy this book. Over half of the recipes (I looked at every single one) are garbage, & will likely make you gag. Some of the flavor manufacturers for certain flavourings aren't even listed for some of the recipes in this book.

This book & Emma Green are s***ty. Super s***ty.

Here is a reference for creating your own ejuice flavors as well as tweaking some current "recipes" that may be made even better.

I've been DIY my own ejuice since 2009 and this book has combinations and "secret" ingredients I hadn't thought of using together. So for around $10 for 250ml of ejuice, what's not to appreciate about having these receipes.
