About the Author

Tom Stoppard's other work includes Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead (Tony Award), Jumpers, Travesties (Tony Award), Night and Day, After Margritte, The Real Thing (Tony Award), Enter a Free Man, Hapgood, Arcadia (Evening Standard Award, The Oliver Award and the Critics Award) and Indian Ink (a stage adaptation of his own play, In the Native State). His work for television includes Professional Foul (Bafta Award, Broadcasting Press Guild Award). His film credits include Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead which he also directed (winner of the Golden Lion, Venice Film Festival).

A mixed collection, but a must-have for Stoppard fans

Let's face it; if you're looking at Volume Two of a collection, you're already a fan. This is a collection of short radio plays, mainly from early in Stoppard's career. Some are minor classics (Dominic Boot, Albert's Bridge) and others are forgettable. However, all of them show the true Stoppard spark, wit and intellect. Don't expect work of the same quality as the major plays, and you'll be happy.

Resistance Is Futile... From this time forward, you will color in this book

[[VIDEOID:ea8085c8b38ad2edc743b9f6dfab8235]]What fun to have a well done Star Trek The Next Generation coloring book. I noticed that it seems to stop mid-series, so perhaps there will be another book in the future.

There are 45 designs in the coloring book and are done by a team of illustrators (Juann Cabal, Gabriel Guzman, Daniel Maine, Stefano Martino, and Bill Mudron.) I found that their styles meshed well together and the continuity of the designs was well done throughout the book.

The designs are mostly spot-on character scenes from various episodes and it was great fun to remember which one was which. I've started re-watching the series because of the coloring book as it reminded me how much I enjoy the series.

The designs are detailed but not what I would call intricate though there are parts of designs which have small areas to color. The designs are printed on one side of the page with the episode/quote on the opposite facing page. There are only a couple of things that would have made this book even better for me – more scenes in space and designs that stopped short of the binding. On the whole, I am really liking these designs.

This is what I found while coloring in this coloring book and testing the paper with my coloring mediums.

Love it!

This adult coloring book is so well designed! There are chronological illustrations for nearly every episode of TNG seasons 1-3 with fun quotes from each episode on the facing page. It's like taking a trip through every moving, suspenseful, quirky and fantastic moment from the first half of the series. And the illustrations are really quite detailed and beautiful. I hope we get to see a second volume that captures moments from seasons 4-7 at some point! I really love this book and I'm definitely buying copies of this for all my Trekker friends.

Great Quality images and paper! A must for any Trekker that wants to color.

The pictures are great and remind you immediately of episodes, in fact the two I first did, I was able to look up the episode and find the same shot to get color pallets and such. The paper is thicker than most similar books and really does nicely with both gel pens and colored pencils, so seep or transfer of color to the back. The only minor criticism is that scenes that are drawn sometimes aren't in the correct uniform for the episode, which is odd, but they look great and you wouldn't really know unless you looked.

About the Author

Ingrid Hjelm, Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen and Director of the Palestine History and Heritage Project. Author of The Samaritans and Early Judaism (2000) and Jerusalem’s Rise to Sovereignty (2004) in addition to a considerable number of articles within the field of Samaritan studies, the history of ancient Israel and the Hebrew Bible. Her latest book, co-edited with Anne Katrine de Hemmer Gudme is Myths of Exile (2015).

Thomas L. Thompson, Professor Emeritus, University of Copenhagen and author of some 130 articles and ca. 20 books, including The Historicity of the Patriarchal Narratives (1974), The Early History of the Israelite People (1992), The Bible in History: How Writers Create a Past (1999) and Biblical Narrative and Palestine’s History (2013), currently working as Project Developer on the Palestine History and Heritage Project.

About the Author
Peter Jennings (1938–2005) was chief anchor of ABC’s World News Tonight. In more than 40 years as a broadcast journalist, he worked in most parts of the world, from the American South to Southern Africa, from the Middle East to eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Among hundreds of programs he was a part of, he treasured those he did with and for the young.

Todd Brewster was the senior editorial producer of ABC’s The Century television series. In more than 25 years as a journalist, he has covered the American national political scene and the collapse of Communism in eastern Europe, both for Life, where he was a writer and editor. He is currently the new director of the Center for Oral History at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

These materials find a wide number of applications in such diverse fields as geotextiles, building, electronics, medical, packaging, and automobiles.
This first systematic reference on the topic emphasizes the characteristics and dimension of this reinforcement. The authors are leading researchers in the field from academia, government, industry, as well as private research institutions across the globe, and adopt a practical approach here, covering such aspects as the preparation, characterization, properties and theory of polymer composites.
The book begins by discussing the state of the art, new challenges, and opportunities of various polymer composite systems. Interfacial characterization of the composites is discussed in detail, as is the macro- and micromechanics of the composites. Structure-property relationships in various composite systems are explained with the help of theoretical models, while processing techniques for various macro- to nanocomposite systems and the influence of processing parameters on the properties of the composite are reviewed in detail. About the Author
Sabu Thomas is a Professor of Polymer Science and Engineering at Mahatma Gandhi University (India). He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and a Fellow of the New York Academy of Sciences. Thomas has published over 300 papers in peer reviewed journals on his polymer composite, membrane separation, polymer blend and alloy, and polymer recycling research and has edited three books.
Kuruvilla Joseph is a Reader at St. Berchmans' College (India). He has held a number of visiting research fellowships and has published ca. 50 papers on polymer composites and blends.
S. K. Malhotra is Chief Design Engineer and Head of the Composites Technology Centre at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. He has published over 100 journal and proceedings papers on polymer and alumina-zirconia composites.
Koichi Goda is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Yamaguchi University. His major scientific fields of interest are reliability and engineering analysis of composite materials and development and evaluation of environmentally friendly and other advanced composite materials.
M. S. Sreekala is a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Polymer Science and Rubber Technology at Cochin University of Science and Technology (India). Spirit Builders; A review

Spirit Builders is an introduction to the movement and practice of Congressional Illuminism. Wait, that's not quite fair. Spirit Builders is a detail and open ended approach to Congressional Illuminism through a synthesis of the Point Chauds and the Freemansonic 97th degree system. No, that not really doing justice to this work at all.

Spirit Builders is an do it yourself manual for spirit for enlightenment ( Spirit building) centered around a simple and customizable framework that is filtered through Palamas's unique spiritual heritage.

It's a damn fine book.

Spirit Builders is a book in three parts. Book one offers a detailed explanation as to what Free Illuminism is and what its goals are. Included is a brief history of the movement as well as a detailed lineage. According to Palamas Free Illuminism is a non-hierarchical and non-authoritarian approach to spirituality. Essentially this is a without the priest. No grand poo bas, no secret chiefs, no blessed leader, and no boss. The group is composed of individuals seeking to facilitate the spiritual development of others. Folks united in a common goal of spiritual growth and communion.
Book one also explores the Chapel model, the purpose of the work, and The rite of Memphis+Misaim in detail.

Book two delves into what a three grade intiatory system. Each step along the path is explained in detail with the form, function, and spiritual significance of that grade. So what are we getting ourselves into with the three grades? Palmas has set for a Three-Fold Path which embodies- Purification-Illumination-Unification. This is the preliminary work to actual Spirit Building. These three grades form the foundation you build your temple upon.

The vast majority of the book is dedicated to Book three which explores each of the 97 degrees in detail, offering the seeker a wealth of understanding. Each grade is linked to one of the 97 Point Chauds, hot points os spiritual angry which function as the engines and furnaces of the seekers quest for gnosis and illumination. This section is impossible to do justice to in a brief review, however what can be said is that it is a cache of occult knowledge that is of benefit to anyone family with lodge style/masonic practices.

Synthesis is something Palamas is a master at. In Spirit Builders Palamas draws on a myriad of practices from a variety of occult practices. They are landed together to form an organic whole, greater than the sum of its parts. Rather than a slipshod amalgamation of practices, Palamas has generated an unique and frankly special framework. Those familiar with his earlier work Syzygy will understand the passion that Palamas has for paradigm blending. In fact one could argue that Spirit builders is Syzygy, especially the Labora section, put into practice. Both of these work are a living example of Bertiaux's Inner Retreat. This is how you

Every once in awhile you're blessed to find a book destined to become a go-to work in it's field. These books often challenge the status quo, create something new, and can in rare instances change their readers. Spirit Builders is such a book.

I'm the kind of guy who has avoided large organized groups. I'm not a fan of hierarchy, in fact I often find myself in the office of the insubordinate. It's not that I don't like authority, I simply do not enjoy the weight of hierarchy. What I have found in Spirit Builders is something that has lit a fire under my ass to take my work beyond the strictly personal.

Spirit Builders book review

This book is in my opinion the most important book on Memphis Misraim in our day. It builds firmly upon the foundations laid by Marconnis, Yarker, Crowley, T Allen Greenfield, and most especially of Hierophant Michael Bertiaux. Sadly, due to many factors, Memphis Misraim died a slow death as a Masonic Rite over the years. Even the earliest monitors of the 97 Degrees were skeletal and added only a handful of fully worked degrees beyond the 33rd. Here the emphasis is on the Rite as it developed onward from the Gnostic Ecclesiastical Revision of 1921 where certain Franco Haitian Gnostic bishops began working the rite as a magickal rather than a Mainstream Masonic Order.
This massive tome is complete in every way and includes commentary and exposition on all degrees and the body centers ( "Hot Points" ) that they are used to activate. In short, this book is a must have for anyone interested in Memphis Misraim as a system of Free Illuminism.

I cannot stop saying enough good things about this amazing book. Tau Palamas has provided us with an in - depth explanation of the Ancient and Primitive Rite of Memphis - Misraim according to its dual Magickal - Masonic use by the Free Illuminist/Congregational Illuminism Movement. It includes a streamlined version of the Symbolic Degrees (Entered Apprentice through Master Mason) which requires only two people to perform each initiation. That makes setting up nodes or lodges capable of initiating others so much easier. But there is so much more. The book explores the depth of the spiritual meaning of each and every degree in the APRMM; and it provides a pathway using the points chauds to open up magickal pathways in the initiate all the way through the 97o, which was the final degree of the APRMM at the time of the 1921-1922 Ecclesiastical Revision which joined the APRMM to a current of Gnosis. Tau Palamas has also provided us with very personal anecdotes from his initiatory experiences, opening up levels of understanding and empathy and the work is illustrated by his magnificent art. This work is a MUST for all students of Freemasonry, but particularly those who are not stuck in their "Regular" York Rite understanding and can explore a very esoteric path that evolves from the Other Freemasonry, the Progressive, Continental Tradition that reigns in Latin America and Continental Europe with Orders like the Grand Orient de France; and particularly those Progressive orders of Freemasonry that use the APRMM. It is also a MUST for every serious occultist and student of Gnosticism.

Great read but not sure whether it's a true account of events as they transpired.Author clearly has an axe to grind with Elon.Seems a little bit sycophantic and author must have been a periphery player.Also, as described by others, author clearly idol worships , Thiel.
Of all the members of the Paypal sream team,Elon appears to have faired better.He has since gone on to found SpaceX and is managing Tesla, envisioned Hyperloop etc.,He's also worth 5+billion.Thiel is worth 1.6billion.
I'd say the proof is in the pudding.Elon's contribution is most likely not accurately potrayed .They should probably have listened to Elin more!

An Excellent Tale of Entrepreneurship At Its Best

As the title of the book suggests, this is a first hand account showing what a rough ride the entrepreneurial & startup journey can be. With the never ending list of challenges from different segments to internal conflicts within the team itself, this is an excellent read for any determined entrepreneur to be mentally prepared on a road very few chose to travel. The incidents documented in this book show an outright example of the battle between David vs Goliath (Paypal vs Ebay). It is a true testimonial of how innovative thinking and delivering solutions based on what customers require can overcome any kind of manipulative or power whiplash from the competitor who is not prepared as what to expect next.

Kudos to the initial Paypal team for their persistence and determination in overcoming all odds and rewriting history in the Silicon Valley circles. No wonder the Paypal Mafia has gone on to create more innovative startups and support a new breed of entrepreneurs ready to take on the world. The book delivers a key lesson in the words of Peter Thiel towards the end at the Paypal celebration party. Although I would not like to spoil it for future readers, the essential lesson is that the world encourages the spirit of entrepreneurism and likes to see risk takers come on out all front and deliver the unexpected. But at the same time it places a lot of hurdles in the path of an entrepreneur. It is up to the entrepreneur to chose whether to get knocked down by the hurdle or maneuver a way around it.

Exciting story of adaptation and maneuvering

Reading this exciting account of a startup's life demonstrates the dynamism present in entrepreneurship. In many paths of life, discrete and known decision points appear in which people choose between several specific options- which college to attend, which major to choose, which company to intern with, which offer to accept. In running paypal, the degree of strategy the leaders show in making choices takes 'thinking outside the box' to a new level.

Paypal started out as a Confinity, an idea of transmitting information privately between palm pilots. Then they realized the main thing people want to transmit is financial information, so they basically changed the business model to focus on financial transactions between individuals through the Internet. Then they realized eBay hosted a huge demand for this service, so they diverted all of their resources towards the auction site. The fact that they nimbly and dramatically changed their strategy several times in response to new developments shows how many hard, undefined decisions exist in business, especially in the early stages.

In the Paypal saga, merging and buying companies takes on new drama and is as important to entrepreneurship as technological development. Like when wild beasts mate, X.com and eBay partnered with Paypal only after repeatedly mauling it. The companies battled for users, raced to add features, spied on each other, exhibiting a high rate of innovation in attempting to out-maneuver each other. Novel ideas to increase Paypal accounts included a bot that surfed eBay auctions and insisted on using paypal to pay.

The author emphasizes the importance of Thiel's grand, world changing, world domination vision. This vision kept people motivated, despite ultimately not being achieved and falling away as the focus. What fraction of companies start out as planning to change the world but then end up selling out? Well, at least paypal tried, and they succeeded in certain ways.
